LARGE SCALE CERAMIC MOSAICS
Over a period of time, aside from printmaking, seven commissions were carried out. As artist-in-residence, or working alone. These large scale mosaics/ceramic installations were designed, tiles were made, detailed, decorated in colour and finally laid in a variety of sites
MO MOWLAM MEMORIAL

Intricate 800 tile mosaic, set in a three-metre raised circle near the water's edge, illustrates Mo's life and interests, with her portrait as the centrepiece surrounded by images including the beach where she loved to walk, racehorses at Redcar Racecourse, where she celebrated her wedding, the steelworks, the Zetland lifeboat, clasped hands and doves to symbolise the Northern Ireland peace process and the Houses of Parliament.
NORTH TEES CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL WARD

Large scale mural made from ceramic tiles, with a design based around clowns and birds. Installation was sited on the wall of the busy reception area and was brought to life with the help of students from Crooksbarn School.
ST. MARY'S PRIMARY CATHOLIC SCHOOL

A twenty feet long mosaic covering the four seasons and school situations.
WHETLANDS SCHOOL PLAYGROUND

Ceramic tiles made to own design reflecting the association between the area Redcar and the sea. Tiles were fixed to a selected area of the school yard and students were invited to help create individual tiles when possible.
CROOKSBARN SCHOOL

Handmade and decorated ceramic tiles to appropriate design to cover 16M2 new school library floor. I designed and produced the ceramic tiles, drawing inspiration from the local area, its landmarks, history and the children’s favourite animals and stories. Students were encouraged to manufacture and decorate the tiles, when possible.
RAF MEMORIAL

An 8ft by 6ft memorial mosaic to the RAF, commissioned by the Friends of Redcar Cemetery, to remember the sacrifices made by Redcar's air heroes.
